This year, we’re setting the bar even higher and we’re depending on you to help us get there! We’re aiming for 10,700 people to participate and to raise $2.4 million in the 19th annual MS LifeLines Walk MS, presented by Oh Boy! Oberto Beef Jerky. It’s a big number and an even bigger need: to provide services and programs for people living with MS and to fund research into treatments and a cure. Some 8,500 people have MS and 40,000 more are directly affected by it in our Chapter community alone. We can make a difference for all of them. The Chapter’s single largest fundraiser is actually eight walks across Western and Central Washington. Walks in Bainbridge Island, Bellingham, Kennewick, Olympia, Silverdale, Snohomish County and Tacoma take place Saturday, April 12. Seattle’s Walk, beginning and ending at Husky Stadium, is Sunday, April 13. Money raised by individual walkers, teams, corporate sponsors and other donors help pay for Chapter programs for people living with MS and their families, as well as for research into new treatments and a cure. Thanks to Walk MS and other fundraising efforts, the Chapter has been able to significantly increase support for research and expand program offerings. For example, support to families - through direct financial assistance for prescriptions and medical equipment, wellness grants and Family First Enrichment Grants - has increased from $40,000 in 2004 to $330,000 in 2007. So, let’s keep up the momentum! SIGN UP ONLINE MS LifeLines
